Streszczenie

Introduction and objective: This study examines the bodily experience of individuals with schizophrenia, focusing in particular on movement and temporality. The articulation between these experiential dimensions provides evidence for resting-state fMRI research on triple network disturbance, complemented by a phenomenologically informed approach. Materials and methods: Fourteen patients with schizophrenia (PANSS score ≥40) completed a survey with questions addressing their lived experience of temporality and movement. Participants were recruited from the General Psychiatry Unit, Neuropsychiatric Center in Kościan, and the Community Psychiatry and Psychosis Research Center at the Jagiellonian University Medical College in Kraków. Patients were selected through an inclusion criterion of a PANSS score ≥40, mainly experiencing positive symptoms (at least one), and an exclusion criterion of past or present comorbid neurological disease and significant psychiatric comorbidity. Results: A Fisher’s exact test was applied to compare the variables (PANSS score) and the survey items, revealing a significant association between difficulty in abstract thinking and components related to a disturbed sense of agency, the temporal structure of experience, and the integration of bodily experience (p < 0.05). Conclusion: The findings indicate a disruption in the sense of body structure among schizophrenia patients and suggest that this disturbed structure is grounded in temporal and movement experience.
